Erma Campmeeting

One of the things we are excited about each year as people come on the grounds is the anticipation, “What is new this year?”

Throughout the off season a dedicated bunch of Board Members and volunteers are working to make the camp the most hospitable place possible for those seeking a deeper life in Christ.  Over the last few years the focus has also needed to be on finding more places for people to stay as the camp has grown.  Praise God!

This year’s big projects have included a new activities center and a bath house/sleeping rooms.  Here are a few pictures and you can check out more on our facebook page – you do not need to register to see the page.

Recently Erma’s youth program has grown every year because we keep having more fun while strengthening our faith.  That has a lot to do with the hard work the counselors and leaders bring to the program but also to large extent comes from young people coming with a great attitude, hungry to learn about Jesus and knowing that the Christian life is the greatest adventure one can have.

If that sounds like something you want to be a part of we want you to join us.  The registration form is RIGHT HERE so you can reserve your spot.  Please have your registration in by July 1 to ensure your space at camp this year.

Hurricane Irene has hit Erma Camp. Fortunately as of now there hasn’t been any major damage that has been reported. We do have a tree or two that have fallen and several limbs and debris around that camp that we could use help cleaning up. We understand its a holiday weekend and its short notice but if your available Saturday feel free to stop down and lend a hand. If not have a great and safe Labor day weekend. Anyone that has a chain saw please bring it along it may be of some use. Thanks!

As sun hangs longer over the Cape May beaches the activity at Erma Camp also is increasing. Here is what is happening this spring:

There will be work days every weekend starting on April 1st.

Construction on the new book store has begun.

Renovation of the bath house is underway also, which now will also offer additional lodging upon completion.

If you are down in the area, stop by and lend a hand or just make a quick pass through the camp to see what is springing up around our sacred grounds.

The Erma Youth camp is growing year after year. This year we expect an even larger group for one of the most unique Christian youth camp experiences in the country. Where else will campers hear a holiness message each day, play on world famous beaches, travel across the bay on a ferry boat and participate in other surprises in store for 2011.

Mark your calendars!!!

On October 2nd the Board of Erma Camp met and discussed the issues of the organization. Some the highlights reported were:

• A wonderful camp this summer with growing attendance and youth programs.
• The first season using the new dorms and nursery area.
• After a weather emergency this past summer in consultation with local emergency management experts we have prepared a Severe Weather plan designating the newly renovated Dining Hall as the Safe Shelter for the camp.
• Plans were presented and approved for a renovated and expanded bathhouse which would provide better facilities for our RV park and additional beds for the camp season.
• In a tough economic time Erma Camp through its faithful donors and volunteers has more than held its own but improved and expanded its ministry. We are thankful as a board for the great many people who consider Erma their place of ministry and mission.
